Micromax Launches New Phone Brand ‘Yu’ Powered by CyanogenMod

India’s one of the largest Mobile manufacture brand Micromax has finally unveiled the new smartphone brand ‘Yu’ which will be powered with CyanogenMod according to the report. We shared an update about the same stating the plan of Micromax to Launch CyanogenMod powered device. Rahul Sharma the founder of Micromax would be wholly owning this startup.

As of now Rahul Sharma (founder of Micromax) has around 19.58% stake in Micromax however in this new startup, Sharma owns 99.9% share and rest of the 0.1% is held by Vikas Jain and Sumeet Arora. According to Sharma Yu brand phones along with CyanogenMod will offer immense customization which would be very beneficial for the users.

As usual the smartphones would be manufactured in China and then imported to India. It would allow hassle free customization and even if you root your device it won’t void your device’s warranty while in the case of Micromax phones warranty gets void once your root your device. It could be one of the advantages for devs for testing purposes.

Yu Televentures is completely the subsidiary part of Micromax and it is also in talks to sell the phone online through eCommerce portals.

The phones would be priced at a pocket friendly tag and it is expected to create a strong competition with Xiaomi which offers the same warranty after root and customization.
