Canvas A1 created a lot of buzz at the time of its release, the main reason was that it was the product of tie up of Google with Micromax and the other reason was the Android update directly from Google. Its higher end specs gave the equal contribution to its success. And now the hit handset maker has come up with new variant Canvas Xpress which is available in the similar range as that of canvas A1 and is about to create similar buzz as Canvas A1 did.

Both Micromax A1 and Canvas Xpress flaunt 4.5” screen size with screen resolution of 480X854 pixels. Both are approximately similar in terms of their display, so there is nothing much to compare. One will have similar experience of watching movies or videos or images on these handsets.
OS and Processor:
Both Canvas A1 (AQ4501) and Canvas Xpress A99 operates on Android Kitkat 4.4 with the only difference that Android update up to V5.0 i.e Lollipop will be available for Canvas A1 shortly. Talking about the processor, Canvas A1 runs on 1.3GHz Cortex A7 quad-core processor based on MediaTek MT6582 chipset. It also has Mali-400 MP2 GPU. While talking about the Canvas Xpress then we have Quad core processor based on ARM 7 MTK6582 chipset cocked at the frequency of 1.3 GHz. It accommodates MALI 400 MP-1 GPU.
Canvas A1 sports 5MP of rear camera coupled with 2Mp of front facing camera. These snappers come along with features like auto focus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection etc. On the other hand Canvas Xpress bears 5MP of rear facing camera with 0.3MP secondary camera. This phone comes along with camera features like auto focus, Flash Support, Multi-shot, Night Mode, Zoom Level: 4x
Canvas A1 houses 1700mAh battery which offers talk time up to 6h and stand by time up to 160h while Canvas Xpress houses 1950mAh battery promising talk time of 7h and stand by time of 240h on 2G. Clearly Micromax Canvas Xpress comes with a better battery backup.
Canvas A1 accommodates options like Bluetooth, WiFi, USB, GPRS, EDGE etc while on the other hand Canvas Xpress include features like WAP, WiFi, USB, GPRS, EDGE, 3G, navigation technology etc. Canvas Xpress encompasses sensors like Accelerometer, Proximity Sensor, Gravity Sensor, Light Sensor. Canvas A1 includes accelerometer and proximity as sensors.
Canvas A1 and Micromax Xpress both bears 1GB of internal RAM and external memory expandable up to 32GB. The whole difference lies in their internal ROM, A1 accommodates 4GB of internal memory while Xpress has 8GB of internal ROM.
MMX A1 has the advantage over Xpress that former will have Android update to V5.0 whenever it will be available in the market for Android One smartphones while the latter have the advantages of features like Hot Knot and Smart Wake.
