Popular Indian Android Maker, Micromax has outraced the South Korean company Samsung to become the largest domestic vendor in Indian smartphone market. Till now Samsung has been the leading supplier of the smart phone but with the latest report of Canalys’ fourth quarter Micromax has become the largest supplier in the smartphone market. India is a booming smart phone market and till now with its effort Micromax was trying to grab the maximum user’s attention.
As Indian Market consists mainly of the users consisting of mid-range to low range base and Micromax plans to launch the handsets at the tag of INR 9,000 to INR 12,000 is one of the reasons why Micromax is crowned as the top brand.
In the latest report issued by the Canalys, Micromax currently accounts for around 22% of the totals sale of the smart phones in India in the fourth quarter i.e October to December. Samsung catered 20% of the total sales. Talking about the number of smart phones which were sold in India in that period, it is about 21.6 millions which is 90% more than that of last year.
After China, India is the second largest smart phone market since in India till also many users still uses feature phones and are upgrading from feature phones to smart phones. And these customers mainly have budget in between $100 to $200. Therefore it becomes important for the mobile makers then whether it is Samsung or Micromax to launch the smart phones at the pocket friendly prices.
Canalys added that the reason why Micromax has become the first choice is its ability to cater the demands and requirements of the users. Devices like Canvas Hue, Canvas Nitro etc have become the first choice for the customers who want to buy the smart phones at the price below $100. In this quarter nearly one-fourth handset which was sold is under the range below $100 on the other hand 21% are the devices which were sold at the price tag of $100-$200.
After Micromax and Samsung, the companies which followed up are of Indian origin only i.e Krabonn and Lava. All the companies are keeping in mind the customer requirement and then accordingly launching the handsets, for example keeping in mind the user’s requirement to let them talk in their own language, Micromax introduced Canvas Unite while Lava launched the smart phones which fulfills the battery requirements of the users.
It is quite amazing and good to know that the three out of four positions are entitled to the Indian Makers only. It is good to see the Indian Companies like Micromax, Karbonn, LAVA are keeping up with the customer’s demands and bringing in the handsets which are not even technologically advanced but are also available at affordable price tag.
Micromax has managed to not only keep a check on the price but also come up with latest specs and high-end quality, since in country like India to establish oneself, it is important for a company to bring in quality along with an affordable price tag. Now Micromax needs to provide better after sale services and regular OS updates to stick at the first position.
