Yesterday we shared an update stating about the testing of kitkat on Canvas 4 which was seen on Moulnisky forum. The new approval procedure by Google regarding Android says that all new Android devices must run on the new kitkat OS. Wait! only the new ones? According to a recent report only 1.8% of the devices runs on kitkat. It is strongly recommended by Google to the mobile manufacturing companies to abide this unless Google will no longer approve GMS distribution on the devices running on older platform releases.
We are not specifically talking about Micromax in this post. Almost all the phones by Micromax runs on MediaTek processor and till now kitkat update isn’t available. Only 4.2 Jelly bean is available and also the newely handsets released with MediaTek features the Jelly Bean OS.
FYI – Micromax also scheduled their Android 4.4 upgrade to Q2 2014. I have a strong feeling that this update will be rolled out soon for MMX devices. The only reason Micromax phones are lagging behind Samsung is this Android update support.
Kitkat OS is specially designed by Google considering low end devices. The OS is designed for devices having RAM>=512MB. All the details regarding kitkat update are mentioned on this post.
According to a report after receiving tons of requests from users, MediaTek has finally decided to bring out the kitkat to their devices. All those phones featuring MT6589, MT6582 and Octacore MT6592 are supposed to be receiving kitkat upgrade. Quad core and Octa core users Android 4.4 upgrade is not so far.
The upgrade is expected to be available by the end of April 2014. If this update comes out then It would be quite good as it will definitely boost up their sales.
